Always add water to alcohol. This improves mixing and reduces the risk of cloudiness or flavour disruption.
Cloudiness can occur due to mineral-heavy water, essential oils in flavoured spirits, or diluting too quickly. Try using filtered or distilled water and dilute gradually.
Most spirits are bottled between 37% and 45% ABV. Vodka and neutral spirits are commonly 40%, while whisky, rum, and gin may be bottled slightly higher. Liqueurs are typically mixed between 15% and 30% ABV
Mixing alcohol and water creates a mild heat reaction. This is normal and harmless.
